Container Herb Garden Workshop
Are you are interested in gardening but would like to start small without the commitment of an actual garden? Growing and harvesting fresh herbs in a container is a great first step. These fragrant, edible plants are not only easy to grow but are also beautiful. Herbs are not limited to culinary use. At 1818 Farms we regularly include them in flower arrangements.
Herbs require little space and can easily be grown in pots or containers inside the home, on a deck or porch. During this workshop at 1818 Farms, participants will learn the requirements for growing herbs in containers as well as planting and harvesting tips. The herb planter provided in this workshop is made by Cedar Crafts™. Each planter is made from either durable cedar or cypress. The decorative tin used on the containers has been pretreated to encourage rust and oxidation for effect.
Natasha will share some of her favorite fresh herb recipes and demonstrate how to prepare a delicious compound butter. She will also demonstrate how to create beautiful beverages by infusing with fresh herbs and fruit.
Each workshop participant will create a “make and take” container herb garden with the following supplies:
• Cedar Crafts™ Wood/Tin Planter Size - 5.25"W X 12”L X 10"H
• Appropriate soil mixture
• Four fresh heirloom culinary herb plants
